I have a wonderful life! I was raised by amazing parents in a very loving family. I have wonderful siblings that I know will always be there for me. I was lucky enough to marry my best friend who is the most caring and lovable man I have ever met. I have a beautiful daughter that I love more than anything. I have a home filled with love and the spirit of our Heavenly Father. I am blessed to get to be a stay-at-home mom because of the hard work of my husband. All of these things are wonderful and fulfilling! I love my then, now and the things to come!
Lately however, I have been feeling like I am not doing anything. I see these young moms that do photography or crafts. Many of my friends have gone to college and some on missions. Most are married with babies or careers. I see my sister-in-law that is so charitable in everything she does. I have a sister that is so engaged in the lives of her children and their school activities. I watch girls bake amazing treats and make beautiful wreaths and baby blankets, or those with incredible musical talents, and I think to myself "what do I do!?"
I have really struggled lately with finding a hobby that I truly enjoy and want to fill my days and time with. I try to think of something that I can do to better myself and help me grow as an individual and a daughter of God. So today on a walk with my mom, I decided that now is the time! To help me find something that I really like to do I decided that once a week I am going to try something new! I am not setting limits on the types of stuff I will do. Maybe photography, writing, quilting, gardening, cooking, family history. Who knows!?
Since nothing TOO exciting happens in our daily lives, I will catalog my hobby journeys on this blog. Among stuff that Macy does and things we do and experience as a family. Maybe in writing it all down, it will help me find that something that I love doing!

Flu Flu Flu... Yuck yuck Yuck!
Last week was awful! My poor lil buggy had her very first stomach flu :( Throwing up and other...stuff...we won't mention. It all started Tuesday night. She threw up 6 times before bed at 8:00am and I dont know how many times after she fell asleep. She woke up Wednesday wanting to play and lasted abotu 2 hours. Then, more puke. I thought she was getting better around noon. She fell asleep for about 4 hours and slept soundly. Her fever was down and she looked so peaceful sleeping on daddy's pillow; her favorite place to take a nap! We were set to have family pictures that afternoon and I was crossing my fingers she would make it through. I got ready, got her ready and in the car. Things were looking good!
Then it happened. 70mph down I-40 and I heard the projectile vomit and then my screaming baby. I had to pull over, almost getting hit by semi trucks as I walked around the car and cleaned her up. Dang it! We continued out to Anderson's to meet David. She seemed happy as we walked in and then... you guessed it. She threw up, AGAIN! Pictures were obviously not going to happen.
At this point she hadn't kept anything down in almost 24 hours. I was very worried that she was becoming dehydrated. We talked to the pediatrician at about 7pm and pretty much knew the ER would be in our acitivites that night. If Macy didn't have a wet diaper by 10pm... we needed to take her in. Pronto! Right after I hung up with the on call nurse, my parents knocked at the door. They came over so that my dad could help David give Macy a blessing.
I am SO thankful to have the Priesthood in my life and in our home. Macy started out the blessing squirmy and screaming but as David's gentle voice spoke to bless her with confort and health, she calmed down. Thank you David and daddy for being wonderful men, worthy to hold and use the Priesthood!
We put her to bed after having a small wet diaper. Since her temperature was at 99.8 we gave her some ibuprofen to help her sleep and we all went to bed. I couldn't sleep though. I just laid awake worrying about my baby. At 12:30am I got this strong feeling that I needed to go check on her. I went into her room and she was burning up. I took her temp again and this time it was 104.6. Oh yeah. We were goin to the E.R.
When we got there they took us right back. They tried 6 times to get her hooked-up to an IV to hydrate her. Everytime they tried to get her hooked up it took 4 RN's to hold her down. They were amazed at how fiesty and strong she was even being so sick and weak. Once they got the IV in and fluids were back in her system, she fell right asleep. Blood was drawn through her IV and test results came back indicating that her potassium levels were very low. So... they admitted her to the hospital.
We got into our pediatrics room at about 5:30am. She spent the day hooked up to her IV, sitting in bed with mommy watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse and sleeping. The nurses were shocked at how many visitors she had in just a short period of time; Grandma Annette, Aunt Julie, Aunt Jenna, Riley, McCoy, Aunt Sara, Jackson, Austin and of course, her Daddy! Everytime anyone came in that she didn't know, she would just scream at them. Since she kept pulling at her IV with her fingers... and teeth... they had to wrap in up in a brace/splint type thing. She did not like not being able to use her left hand. Sorry the picture is hard to see. I wanted to keep the room darker for her and I only had my cell phone. Doesn't she look so sad?
Luckily, she didn't have to stay long. The IV's gave her enough fluid and increased her potassium enough that we were able to head back home at 5:00pm. She was so happy to see daddy and Maverick (our dog). Once I put her on the floor she crawled right over to Mav and laid her head on him. She played a little bit and was sound asleep by 7:00pm! After a week of catching up on her sleep I am glad to say she is feeling much better! I hope the flu is not something that visits our house again for a long long time!
